2027 Astronomical Calendar – Moon Phases & Planetary Ephemeris

20,00€

Explore the rhythms of the sky with our 2027 Astronomical Calendar, an illustrated celestial ephemeris that allows you to follow the movements of the main celestial bodies throughout the year.

Discover the positions and movements of the planets in the sky, follow the phases and cycles of the Moon, including its closest and farthest points from Earth (perigees and apogees), and explore the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets in relation to the zodiac constellations, among other astronomical events.

We invite you to observe the marvellous dance of the celestial bodies that so deeply inspires us.

✦ DIMENSIONS

42 × 59.4 cm / 16.5 × 23.4 in (A2)

✦ MATERIALS & PRINTING

Traditionally screen-printed in shimmering gold and deep-blue inks on high-quality, 240 gsm, slightly cream-coloured paper. Made from a blend of cotton, recycled and FSC-certified cellulose fibres, the paper has a beautiful natural texture with small visible fibres (see pictures).

✦ EXPLORE FURTHER

For a deeper exploration of the night sky, we recommend pairing your Astronomical Calendar with our Star Finder ‘Planisferium’, a rotating celestial map that allows you to identify the stars and constellations visible at any given date and time.

✦ WHAT DOES “EPHEMERIS” MEAN?

The word ephemeris comes from the Greek ephēmerís, meaning “diary” or “journal”. It derives from ephḗmeros, meaning “daily”.

In astronomy and celestial navigation, an ephemeris is a table or chart that shows the calculated positions of celestial bodies at particular times.

Our 2027 Astronomical Calendar transforms this scientific information into an illustrated celestial map. Through it, you can explore the movements of the Sun, Moon and planets throughout the year.

Inspired by 19th-century astronomical charts and traditional celestial maps, this screen-printed ephemeris brings together astronomy, art and our timeless fascination with the cosmos.

✦ HOW TO READ YOUR ASTRONOMICAL CALENDAR

Our calendar uses a geocentric perspective, with the Earth as the central point of observation.

From Earth, we observe the apparent movements of the Sun, Moon and planets against the background of the zodiac constellations. The Sun follows an imaginary path called the ecliptic, while the Moon and planets move close to it.

The calendar consists of two main sections: an inner circular celestial chart with a deep-blue background, and an outer annual ring.

1. The inner celestial chart

The central composition consists of three concentric sections:

The lunar cycles

The innermost circle illustrates the Moon’s changing position in relation to the zodiac constellations throughout 2027.

As a result, you can follow the Moon’s movement across the zodiac constellations and observe its changing position throughout the year.

The zodiac constellations

The central ring represents the twelve traditional zodiac divisions and their corresponding symbols. It also shows the astronomical constellations along the ecliptic.

Together, these elements reveal the relationship between the zodiac, its historical symbolism and the astronomical positions of the constellations. They also highlight the historical connections between astronomy and astrology.

The Sun and planetary movements

The outer ring shows the changing positions of the Sun and planets throughout 2027, in relation to the zodiac constellations.

By following their paths, you can discover their apparent direct and retrograde motion against the background of the constellations throughout the year.

2. The outer annual calendar

Surrounding the celestial chart, you’ll find the months and days of 2027. Here, a series of astronomical symbols highlights different celestial events:

  • Moon phases: Follow the changing appearance of the Moon throughout the year.
  • Lunar apogees and perigees: Discover when the Moon reaches its farthest and closest points to Earth.
  • Meteor showers: Identify the dates of notable annual meteor showers.
  • Eclipses, solstices and equinoxes: Discover the dates of these significant astronomical events throughout the year.

In addition, the symbols and dates in the lower section provide further information about the planetary and astronomical events represented in the illustration.

✦ EXPLORE THE COSMOS FURTHER

We have also created a complementary Astronomical Calendar Guide to help you interpret the symbols, events and celestial cycles. It is available in both printable and interactive digital formats.

Your calendar includes free access to both versions of the guide. Simply scan the QR code included with your order to explore them in five languages: English, German, French, Swedish and Spanish.

For an even deeper exploration of the night sky, pair your Ephemeris with our Star Finder ‘Planisferium’.

This rotating star map helps you identify the stars and constellations visible in the night sky at a chosen date and time.

Together, these two astronomical tools offer different but complementary ways of exploring the heavens.

✦ SHIPPING & PACKAGING

We carefully package each calendar in a sturdy, protective cardboard tube to ensure it arrives safely and in excellent condition.

All our orders include tracking, so you can follow your package on its journey to you. Once we dispatch your order, we will provide you with a tracking number.
